The Leeds Castle Foundation

Leeds Castle Foundation

Upon her death in 1974, Lady Baillie left the castle to the Leeds Castle Foundation, a private charitable trust whose aim is to preserve the castle and grounds for the benefit of the public forever.

In accordance with her wishes, the castle is kept as a living house, with bedrooms that regularly accommodate guests at weddings, conferences and banquets. In the last thirty years over 10 million people have visited the castle.

Help preserve Leeds Castle

It costs around £2.7 million each year to maintain the castle and keep it looking so beautiful.

The charity achieves this through the income it generates from visitors and from events. Generally, it receives no grant funding or any government support. Every penny donated is ploughed back into long-term preservation projects.

Please help us continue to keep Leeds “the loveliest castle in the world” by donating using your Credit/Debit Card.

The charity also works hard to use the castle to support other charitable purposes, click here for further details.
